Mirchi is a well loved casual dining restaurant with a focus on high quality Indian food.

Iktomi was approached to create a new brand identity for the restaurant that would capture the quintessence of traditional Indian cuisine without overbearing nostalgia and firmly grounded in modernity.



A contemporary identity for a traditional cuisine restaurant

The objective was to create a visual identity that would be direct and speak for itself. We made a hand-drawn illustration of the chilli as the anchor of the identity and contrasted it with a modern interpretation of a traditional pattern.

The strong contrasts in the colour palette were unique: the orange-copper lettering was carefully juxtaposed with an intense blue to create a very modern visual depth.
